DLD PRESIDENT-ELECT KAREN ROONEY SPEAKS AT PUBLIC HEARING

On July 12, 2005, Karen Rooney represented DLD in Washington, DC at the final public hearing for the proposed regulations for IDEA 2004. Having served on the Learning Disabilities Roundtable, Rooney was a strong representative for DLD. See her comments here.

WRITTEN COMMENTS ON IDEA 2004 PROPOSED REGULATIONS SOUGHT

The U.S. Department of Education (ED) is soliciting written comment on the proposed regulations to implement IDEA 2004. The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) appeared in the Federal Register of June 21, 2005 at pages 35782-35892 (link).

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: SEPTEMBER 6, 2005, 5:00pm (EDT)

PROCEDURES FOR WRITTEN COMMENTS (see the Federal Register for more details)

To be considered, comments must be received by 5 PM on September 6, 2005. It is recommended that written comments be sent electronically to IDEAComments@ed.gov rather than by snail mail that may be delayed due to the irradiation process. The term "IDEA-Part B" must appear in the subject line of your electronic message.

You are encouraged to identify clearly the specific section or sections of the proposed regulations that each of your comments addresses and arrange your comments in the same order as the proposed regulations.
