These organizations have been chosen because they provide reliable information and are relevant for teachers of students with learning disabilities.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
The mission of the ASHA is to promote the interests of and provide the highest quality services for professionals in audiology, speech-language pathology, and speech and hearing science, and to advocate for people with communication disabilities.

National Association of School Nurses (NASN)
The NASN improves the health and educational success of children and youth by developing and providing leadership to advance the school nursing practice.

American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
The mission of APTA is to further the profession's role in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of movement dysfunctions and the enhancement of the physical health and functional abilities of members of the public.

American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD)
Many Adapted Physical Education teachers belong to AAHPERD, an alliance of six national associations and six district associations and is designed to provide members with a comprehensive and coordinated array of resources, support, and programs to help practitioners improve their skills and so further the health and well-being of the American public.

National Education Association (NEA)
NEA is America's oldest and largest organization committed to advancing the cause of public education. NEA claims over 2.3 million members who work at every level of education, from pre-school to university graduate programs. Affiliates are located in every state and in over 13,000 local communities across the United States.

National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
The mission of NASP is to promote educationally and psychologically healthy environments for all children and youth by implementing research-based, effective programs that prevent problems, enhance independence, and promote optimal learning. The NASP Web site offers information about conferences, professional development, and publications.

National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE)
NASDSE is dedicated to supporting state agency staff carry out their mission of ensuring a quality education for students with disabilities. NASDSE provides support to states through training, technical assistance documents, research, policy development, and partnering with other organizations.
